About Our Livestock
Our Cattle
Texas Longhorns are probably one of the most recognizable parts of Leaning T operations- and for us, they're about far more than their looks.
Our Longhorn program focuses on raising versatile, functional, quality cattle while`appreciating everthything the breed has to offer. They're Hardy, efficiient, adaptable cattle with unmistakable Character, impressive horns, and a history deeply rooted in the American Cattle Industry. We're commonly asked "Why Longhorns?" Short Answer: Versatility.
One of the biggest reasons we've chosenTexas longhorns is the impressive ability to ultimo every piece of the animal. We believe livestock should have purpose, and longhorns give us the opportunity to make use of nearly every single part. Our Cattle can provide: Beef, Hides, Horns, Skulls, and Dog Chews.
Our Sheep & Goats
Our Nigerian Dwarf goats and Katahdin × Persian sheep make up the small livestock side of Leaning T Ranch & Cattle Co. Our Nigerian Dwarfs are compact, versatile dairy goats known for their rich, high-butterfat milk and manageable size. Along with being wonderful additions to the ranch, they give us opportunities for milk production, breeding, and raising quality kids each season.
Our Katahdin × Persian sheep are hardy, practical hair sheep raised primarily for meat production. Because they naturally shed rather than requiring traditional shearing, they’re a lower-maintenance addition to our operation while still providing a productive purpose.
Our Swine
Kune Kune Hogs can make ecellent yard management, and rooting assistance. We offer Kune Kunes due to their versitility. very similar to our longhorns, but less on the food side. We use Kune Kunes to uproot soil in areas we intend to plant anything. These guys do a great job at both fertilizing the soil and mixing it non stop. We also use these guys for Shrub Management around the property
Our Chickens & Chicks
Coming Soon
Chickens are another addition coming soon to the Ranch. We’re working toward establishing a colorful, diverse flock featuring Polish, Brahmas, and Ameraucanas. Our program will focus on raising healthy birds while offering a fun variety of breeds- from the unmistakable crests of Polish chickens and the impressive size and feathering of Brahmas to the colorful eggs Ameraucanas are known for. As our flock becomes established, we plan to offer chicks and select birds from our breeding program.
Our chickens and chicks are not currently available, but they’re coming soon as we continue expanding the Leaning T operation.
Our Rabbits
Coming Soon
Rabbits are one of the next additions coming to the Ranch. We’re currently working toward establishing a New Zealand × Rex rabbit program, combining two breeds known for their usefulness in meat and fur production. Our goal is to raise practical, dual purpose rabbits that fit naturally into our operation. New Zealand genetics bring size, growth, and meat production, while Rex genetics contribute their distinctive, dense coats- giving us the ability to utilize both the meat and hides from the animals we raise.
Like the rest of our livestock, the focus is on versatility and utilizing as much of the animal as possible. Our rabbit program is not currently available, but it’s coming soon as we continue expanding the Leaning T operation.
